VIPASHYANA  - INSIGHT INTO REALITY
JAMYANG BATH BUDDHIST GROUP (Nov 07 2015)

From a Buddhist perspective the underlying cause of our suffering is our mental afflictions such as attachment, anger and delusion. And all our mental afflictions come from our distorted view of reality – a misunderstanding of how we exist and how the world around us exists. So if we want to overcome our mental afflictions and suffering we need to come to realise the nature of reality.

During this one day workshop we will begin by looking at how our misunderstanding of the nature of reality is the root cause of our mental afflictions and suffering. Then we will look at how to establish the view of emptiness and dependent-arising. And then on that basis how to meditate on emptiness in order to overcome our distorted view of reality and thus reduce and eliminate our mental afflictions and suffering. And then finally how to integrate our vipashyana practice into our daily life.

"I am delighted that the Center for Contemplative Research is offering opportunities for rigorous mind-training and collaborative research by practiced contemplatives and scientists. Together they seek to explore the inner sources of mental conflict and distress, the roots of genuine well-being, and the origins, nature, and potentials of the mind."
